Here is how the formula works - from the information you supplied, we have to determine the following:

w = The "cost per mile" to operate your vehicle as-is.
x = The "cost per mile" to operate your vehicle after the ugprade.
y = The difference between (w) and (x) above (your fuel savings).
z = Number of miles you will have to drive until you've saved enough money on gas to pay for the upgrade.
